Malcolm Monteiro, SVP & area director (South Asia) at DHL Express, said, “As a socially responsible organisation, we firmly believe in striking the right balance between economic benefits and environmental responsibility. The service will allow customers to be our co-stakeholders in ensuring a cleaner, safer, environment and do their bit towards ensuring a carbon neutral shipment.”
Dr Keith Ulrich, vice president at DHL Solutions & Innovations and head of Research & Innovation Management, added, “Transportation and logistics industries are seen as key contributors to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. As a globally operating transport and logistics provider, we therefore strive for innovative solutions for today's challenges. This includes delivery concepts for mega cities, clean transport and environmentally-friendly services alike.”
RS Subramanian, country manager of DHL Express India, said, “At DHL, innovation means providing solutions today for the world of tomorrow. Our ‘GOGREEN Carbon Neutral Service’ enables us to collaborate with our customers and help them evaluate, measure and neutralise their carbon footprint.”
Anil Khanna, managing director at Blue Dart Express Ltd commented, “Blue Dart has always led the way for the domestic express industry. We are acknowledged for the product innovations, infrastructure as well as sustainability initiatives and are considered as a lighthouse for other logistics companies in Blue Dart Country. The GOGREEN Carbon Neutral Service will not only enable our customers to contribute to a greener future but will also help fund the climate protection projects and build healthier and productive communities.”
The ‘GOGREEN Carbon Neutral Service’ will allow customers to cut down on their carbon footprint by paying an offset charge above their shipping rates, which will be calculated on shipment or weight and distance. Carbon emissions from customer shipments will be counterbalanced by reinvesting in environmental protection projects. A certificate will be issued to the customer annually that will mention the total amount of carbon-dioxide balanced per customer.
