Ship Recycling Industries Association (India) was set up in August 28, 1983. The founder of this association was R.L. Kalthiya. Initially, SRIA was known as the Gujarat Ship Breakers Association. The association is entrusted with the responsibility to look at the shipping recycling activities in the country. It is also committed to continually improve the safety standards and environment pollution control processes in the shipping industry.
The functions of SRIA are as follows
Apart from this, the association has made significant contributions towards the Prime Minister'sNational Relief Fund(PMNRF) during the Kargil war and the Tsunami. Besides, it sponsored the construction of four primary schools in the Kutch region.
At present, Vishnu Kumar Gupta is the president of the association. |
