The Indian Register of Shipping (IRS)

The Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) is an independent society engaged in inspecting and classifying Indian ships and vessels. The IRS provides efficient and autonomous third-party technical inspection and certification services for all types of marine craft and structures. It provided similar services for a range of offshore and industrial projects as well.

IRS’ core activities include third-party scrutiny and notification of vessels, approving plans for upgradation, classification of ships, design appraisal as well as statutory and damage surveys. It also offers advisory services and approval of works based upon both quality control and assurance systems.

IRS also conducts detailed surveys during and after new construction to ensure compliance with its rules. This is a part of its classification services.

As a member of IRS, you can be in constant touch with technical experts who can guide you in your business. You can also network with other affiliates for expansion of your business operations.
